In the summer rainy season, the storm decides where the lightning strikes, occasionally igniting a wildfire, and on good days extinguishing it simultaneously. With these earrings from his newest gemstone bead jewelry collection in miniature, Wings calls down the darkening thunderheads, the bolt of gold-white flame, and the silvery blend of sparks and rain. At the top, small stars shimmer in distant space, anchored by tiny diamond-cut sterling silver rounds above larger sterling silver orbs. In descending order of size and shade fall giant spheres of black tourmaline, smaller rounds of chatoyant cobalt-blue kyanite, and the fractionally smaller shimmer of amethyst orbs. Beneath the clouds hang four beads of pure light: two in the hot ice of iron pyrite, descending from the storm; two in brighter sterling silver, like the rain’s reflecting flame. All are strung on filament-thin sterling silver half-round wire. Earrings hang 2.5″ long, excluding wires (dimensions approximate). Designed jointly by Wings and Aji. Earrings coordinate with The Mystical Flames of Falling Stars necklace and A Storm-Tossed Wildfire Sky coil bracelet. From the Fire series in Wings’s new collection, The Summer Elementals (all pieces shown below).
