In this high-desert land where night seems all-encompassing, what lights the dark is the breathtaking beauty of the glow from stars and spheres and worlds long distant. With this coil bracelet, Wings honors those celestial beings that guide us through the night, from the golden glow of the moon and the icy silver shimmer of the stars to that rare red phenomenon of the aurora, nearly unheard-of here and all the more haunting in its power. At center, giant spheres of textured rutilated quartz, translucent white with black schorl and rutile, alternate with large rondels of polished jet, red-gold whorls of the wood within the fossilized material showing through here and there. Burnished sterling silver rounds, heavily oxidized at top and bottom in a design known by the trade term “Navajo pearls,” set off paired garnets, deep wine-red orbs of stunning translucence and power. Successive segments from gradients of matte onyx and basaltic lava rock rounds framed by small rondels of gold and black abalone, ending in anchor segments of silky elemental shungite orbs and coarsely-cut squares of Hill Tribe fine silver. Coils of beads are strung on memory wire, which expands and contracts to fit nearly any wrist. Designed jointly by Wings and Aji. Other views shown below.
