The way of the moon is a gentle but steady drift across the track of the night sky, one that beckons us to follow it into sleep and then awakening once more. With this pair of classic concha earrings Wings evokes the icy iridescent beauty of Grandmother’s glow: on the left, ready to rise above the old village walls; on the right, having moved westward, already beginning her descent. Each drop is formed of a single perfect circle of sterling silver, hand-punched into a medallion and them domed into a concha the traditional way, repoussé-fashion. Each bears a trio of radiant inverted thunderheads in a gentle arc across the center, here an old-style tribute to the kiva steps and crenellated parapets of the thousand-year-old homes in the ancient village. Below each sits a single round, highly domed rainbow moonstone cabochon, each with plenty of color refraction, one traveling near the center, the other already drifting toward dawn. Hand-drilled holes at the top center allow them to hang suspended from sterling silver coil-and-ball-bead French earring wires. Each earring, domed, is 7/8″ across in all directions; each stone is 3/16″ across (dimensions approximate).
