The river spirits carve a path through the peaks and feed the land that surrounds them. With this cuff, Wings creates a silver simulacrum of crest and current, our own Great River Gorge in miniature. The work begins with heavy nine-gauge sterling silver, solid and substantial, scored freehand along wither narrow edge. A single stamp, repeated in paired alternating rows, evokes the waves and the whitecaps of the flow of the First Medicine, held in the embrace of the Gorge walls, evoked here through meticulous freehand texturizing between each border and edge. Wrought in classic traditional style, this slender band is oxidized thoroughly to show the stampwork in sharp relief, then buffed to an aged and gently glowing Florentine finish.
