In the rainy season, clear skies and white clouds conspire to create the storm. Wings calls together clouds and sky and a land aflame, bound together in this necklace in the shades of the desert Southwest. The strand is strung on sterling silver bead wire and held by sterling silver findings. At the center sits an arrangement of three large focal beads of white-lip mother-of-pearl shell, each whorled and banded and luminous as cumulus clouds backlit by the sun, flanked on either side by round orbs of blue-green turquoise, each pair embracing a single fiery amber barrel bead between them. At either end of the focal combinations, a pair of smaller round spheres of white-lip mother-of-pearl shell signal a shift to spiderweb turquoise barrel beads, storm-webbed pieces of desert sky alternating with more cloud-like mother-of-pearl, ending finally at the earth itself — two pairs of spectacularly marbled beads of matte-textured picture jasper. Necklace hangs 20″ long, excluding findings (dimensions approximate). Designed jointly by Wings and Aji. Part of The Beaded Hoop Collection. Coordinates with Red Earth and Rain earrings. Long view shown below.
