The moons of summer lend their magic light across three seasons, from the downward slope of spring through the whole of the summer to fall’s first harvest. With this necklace, the first work in his new Midnight Magic trio, Wings honors all the shades of our Grandmother’s robes as she rides the warmer winds across the midnight hours’ darkened sky. The anchor segments of formed of tiny round black beads of textures as variable as the night, from basaltic lava rock to shiny onyx, separated by single heishi-style disc beads of polished jet. moving downward, a quartet of old peacock-hued iridescent black glass rounds sets off the upper accent segment, consisting of a single puffy doughnut rondel fo snowflake obsidian flanked top and bottom by single faceted onyx barrels. Beneath, more quartets of medium-sized onyx rounds are separated by the shades of the summer moon: on each side, a single pearl glowing golden-white for the first hot nights of the year; then a pair of pale pink fluorite rounds, the delicate shade of flowers and first berries; thence to the crackling fire agate flames of the blood moon that sometimes marks the latter half of the season, whether by nearness or by wildfire smoke; and finally, single translucent orbs of old amber glass, the very shade of the first harvest moon of the year. Between these, at the very center of the strand, sit four very old, very large and impossibly glossy black beads of unknown origin, possibly blown glass but as weighty as onyx.
