“Sherds of a Turquoise Sky” Earrings. $625. SOLD.

Rain falls from the heavens in sherds of a turquoise sky, as though the spirits’ own olla has broken beneath the weight of the water. With these new earrings, Wings honors sky, water, rain, and what remains in the fragments: a glossy and asymmetrical whorled blue, pieces of sky still marbled with pale cloud and veins of golden light. These dancing drops are built around a matched pair of tab-cut cabochons of natural Nevada turquoise in flawless sky blue — based on color and matrix, likely pulled from the earth of the Fox or Royston mining districts. Each is set into a simple, elegant bezel, all four sides saw-cut and filed by hand and shaped by hand, as well, to the cabochons’  trapezoidal angles. Organic hand-drilled tabs extend from the bezel backings, allowing them to hand suspended from sterling silver coil-and-ball-bead French wires. Earrings hand 1″ long, excluding wires, and are 11/16″ across at the base’s widest point (dimensions approximate). Other views, highlighting the meticulous freehand bezel work, are shown below.
