Love flows along the rivers of the heart. Wings honors its journey with a pair of earrings built around the warm, luminous glow of two fiery red agate cabochons. Each stone, beveled and high-domed, assumes the shape of a heart, and each is held in the secure embrace of a saw-toothed bezel atop a heart-shaped setting, each cut freehand from sterling silver. Each setting hangs from delicate wires by sterling silver jump rings, and ends in a tab at the base hand-drilled to hold another pair of jump rings. from these, a pair of sterling silver tassels hangs suspended like a fringe of molten water, the rivers that give the work its name. Each tassel is formed by hand of half-round wire, cut, shaped, and beveled into a point at the lower end. Butterflies, those spirits of love and water alike, dance in a chased pattern across the tassels’ reflective surfaces. Each earring is 3″ long (excluding wires); the heart-shaped settings are 3/4″ long by 11/16″ across at the widest point and the cabochons are 5/8″ long by 9/16″ across at the widest point; tassels hang 1-3/16″ long (dimensions approximate).
