The summer rains fall in a river of sky. With this second entry in his new collection of bead necklaces, Wings brings together season and weather in a cascade of Skystones. The entire strand is strung with turquoise in beads of varying shapes and graduated sizes, each end anchored with tiny bright freeform nuggets still held in bits of matrix. At either side, the nuggets gradually increase in size even as they soften in shape, rough ovals given silken edges, manifest in an array of sky blues and teal greens with spiderweb matrices and patches of pyrite. At the center of the river, in the middle of the strand, sits a string of seven focal beads: two barely-polished teal green nuggets, highly and distinctively textured; then two half-polished nuggets, still infused with a hint of green and still defiantly freeform; then two highly-polished beads a shade off sky blue, not quite uniform yet silky smooth; and the very center, a perfect large oval of robin’s-egg blue, webbed with pale traces of golden-colored matrix. Beads are strung on sturdy but flexible wrapped bead wire and held with sterling silver findings. Strand is 18″ long, excluding findings (dimensions approximate). Designed jointly by Wings and Aji. Part of The Beaded Hoop Collection. Coordinates with Pebbles of Rain earrings. Long view shown below (actual bead colors lie somewhere between that shown in the two photos, a little closer to the image shown below).
