It has been a difficult day for us here — a couple of such days, in fact. As the year winds down, and the world we know with it, the night seems very dark indeed right now. As we approach the new world of the year to come, we seek wisdom. Illumination.
Sometimes the light comes out of the dark.
Wings has been hard at work rebuilding inventory, and today, he completed the first of several pairs of earrings that have been in the works. When I saw them, they spoke to me immediately of rays of light out of darkest nights, of Eyes of Spirit and the visionary power of the world of dreams.

A Visionary Light Earrings
The power of visions and dreams casts a light that illuminates their world, and ours. Wings captures this image in these extraordinary earrings, dancing spirits of visionary realms. Each is anchored by an onyx cabochon, each a square liquid pool rotated a quarter-turn to become an Eye of Spirit, able to see clearly even in the darkest hours of the night. Brilliant rays of silvery light hang suspended via tiny silver jump rings, each flared pendant formed of hand-cut sterling silver and edged with lengths of triangle wire that create a feeling of motion and depth. Earrings are backed by sterling silver posts, and hang 3-5/8″ in total length; cabochons are 1/2″ across ; pendants are 15/16″ long by 3/4″ across at the widest point.

As humans, we are conditioned, reflexively, to fear the dark. Dangers live within its concealing shadow; it is a mark of wisdom, not cowardice, to recognize such a simple fact.
But the dark holds much beyond mere danger: It holds entire worlds, the world of dreams and the one of still deeper visions, worlds where the roads are built of medicine and ceremony, worlds where the spirits dwell and where guidance and wisdom are the gifts they dispense.
The dark holds great power.
As always, power is best approached with humility and respect, but treated properly, the powers that reside in the dark hours can illuminate our path as brightly as any sun, can warm our hearts and souls with the light of wisdom.
On a day such as this, when the light seems in short supply even in the day, we are reminded that the path to a bright future, and a bright world within it, can be found even in the dark.
