“Rare Blue Moons” Earrings. $175.

When Earth and celestial spirits align just so, rare blue moons light up Indian summer nights. With this pair of earrings, the second work in his Indian Summer Nights trio, Wings evokes this summer’s magical blue moon event in richly hued and textured form. Each dangling drop is built around the amber glow of moonlight, flanked by bronzed metal saucer beads. Above and below sit a air of white pearl orbs, also in the embrace of the bronze accents, and at either end are the pair of blue moons, spheres of old bright blue lapis lazuli, that mark the beginning and end of the month of their creation. Short segments of stacked olivella-shell heishi serve as anchors at top and bottom. The pearl beads are old, but most likely fashion pearls; similarly, the old saucer beads are metal, but likely plate. All are strung on filament-thin sterling silver half-round wire, suspended from extended-length sterling silver coil-and-ball-bead earring wires. Earrings hang 2-5/8″ long, excluding wires (dimensions approximate). Designed jointly by Wings and Aji. Earrings coordinate with First Harvest Moon necklace and Early Hunter’s Moon coil bracelet [sold]. From Wings’s new Indian Summer Nights limited series (all pieces shown below).

Sterling silver; lapis lazuli; old amber; white pearl (likely fashion pearl); bronzed metal; olivella-shell heishi
