We live beneath skies both stormy and clear, with all the promise and possibility of misty blues capable of delivering the First Medicine. With these earrings, Wings pays tribute to skies cloudy and clear, to the rains of summer and snows of winter and the mist and fog that link them with shimmering light. Each strand of hand-selected beads is strung on filament-thin sterling silver wire: The center focals are formed of faceted rectangular cubes of sky blue Java glass, a form of recycled glass designed to mimic beach glass, but with a less polished surface texture. Above and below sit extraordinary doughnut rondels of ultra-high-grade royal lapis lazuli, a perfect and seamless blend of cobalt, royal, and violet blues in each bead. The bottom anchors are consist of a trio of beads, two frosted natural Tanzanite rondels flanking a translucent disc of new jade, pale as ice. Two rounds of rainbow moonstone framed by more Tanzanite sit below the Java glass and lapis focal combination, as do single moonstone rounds in the Tanzanite’s misty blue embrace above. Earrings hang roughly 3″ long, excluding wires (dimensions approximate); sterling silver coil-and-ball-bead French wires hold them securely. Designed jointly by Wings and Aji.
