The arc of Mother Earth is a medicine bow, a path between sun and moon and stars to keep her children alive and well. With this extraordinary cuff, Wings pays tribute to the arc, the path, and the shapes and spirits of healing, all through the auspices of sterling silver and three phenomenal turquoise stones. The band is formed of two strands of sterling silver triangle wire of a decently heavy gauge, bound together at each end and stretched gently apart at the center to provide a suitable base for three large Skystones. The bottom angle of both strands is buffed silky smooth; both upper angles of both strands are stamped freehand in a repeating pattern of perfect compact crescents, arcs of motion and stability and hope holding our world firmly in orbit and on its axis. Across the center of both bands sit three scalloped bezels edged in twisted silver, an outsized center oval flanked by a pair of slightly smaller ones; each holds one of three beautifully matched cabochons of high-grade Cloud Mountain turquoise from China’s Hubei District. All three cabochons are a gentle and glorious seafoam green, only the faintest hint of blue underlying the color. The larger center stone is spiderwebbed with a copper matrix at once bold and delicate, its color deep reddish bronze fading to gold; the smaller ovals are more finely webbed with red-bronze copper, one like crackling lava and the other more tightly bound and yet more fragile, like ink fading in water. And each of these extraordinary gifts of the earth is backed by true medicine: kinnickinnick, or traditional tobacco, covers the bottom of each bezel to seat the stone properly. The band is 6″ long (sized, currently, with a 1.75″ gap); each of three angles of each strand of triangle wire is .25″ wide; larger bezel is 1.5″ high by 1-1/8″ across; smaller bezels are 1-3/8″ high by 1-1/8″ across; larger cabochon is 1-3/8″ high by 1″ across; smaller cabochons are 1-1/8″ high by 7/8″ across (all dimensions approximate).
