Daily we reenact the story of emergence: from the earth, from the waters, from the fire. With these earrings, Wings pays tribute to origins and teachings, and to that which shows us the way forward in troubled times. Each dangling drop is built around an extraordinary cabochon of Red Creek jasper in fiery shades of red. These large teardrop-shaped cabochons were cut from the same nugget, mirror images of each other, the stone’s natural brown veining manifest in shapes that look hauntingly like the ancient wooden ladders that rise from kiva and rooftop. On all sides, gold-limned red “flames” seem to swirl around it, with a lighter spot at the “ladder’s” center. Each is set into a plain, low-profile bezel and edged with a slender strand of twisted silver; small sterling silver jump rings at the top on the reverse hold sterling silver coil-and-ball-bead earrings wires. Earrings hang 1-3/8″ long by 7/8″ across at the widest point; cabochons are 1-1/4″ long by 5/8″ across at the widest point (all dimensions approximate).
