At Red Willow, the first snowfall rests upon an earth still mostly green. Wings brings the colors of a newly emergent earth to meet the last shades of summer in this vintage-style barrette, wrought in a traditional rustic style of heavy sterling silver set with a line of glowing gemstones. The barrette is formed of two layers of sterling silver, each cut entirely freehand in single pieces with rounded edges to match the borders of each stone. The upper layer holds in its embrace five bezel-set cabochons per earring, three round deep jade cabs alternating with delicate ovals of snowflake obsidian. The lower layer extends just beyond the upper one, sufficient to hold firmly to the French clip on the reverse. Both layers are buffed to a bright finish, so antiqued that it’s nearly as white as the “snowflakes” on the stones. Barrette is 3″ long by 11/16″ high at its highest point; jade cabochons are 3/8″ across; snowflake obsidian cabochons are 5/8″ long by 7/16″ across at the widest point (all dimensions approximate).
