The ecliptic is the path of the sun, the arc that is light appears to travel as our earth moves around it through space. With this vintage-style cuff, deeply scored and stamped freehand, Wings channels the track along which we pray and sing Father Sun daily across the sky. The band is made of heavy-gauge sterling silver half-round wire, the convex arc of its surface deeply scored with seventeen lines and creating sixteen spaces, an exponent of the number of the winds and the sacred directions. Each space is stamped with a tiny sacred hoop, an orb that travels the slightly off-center arc of the sun at the center of our solar system. The path sits between deep vintage-style directional arrows pointing to an infinity of hoops at either hammered and gently shaped end, while crescent moons trace either rounded edge in a fine, meticulous repeating patter. The inner band is marked by chased directional arrows of a more basic sort, their directions changing seemingly randomly, yet always finding their orbit. Cuff is 6″ long by 3/8″ wide (dimensions approximate). Other views shown below.
