From spring to fall, the crimson flutes of desert honeysuckle, a flowering vine indigenous to these lands, flower in the light. Wings channels the elegantly flowing shapes and dancing spirits of these summer petals into the silvery arc of this latest cuff, cut classically slender but of a substantially weighty gauge and depth. The outer band is chased in graceful arcs that wend their way across the surface, each created by Wings’s own and-made stamp, struck repeatedly in the same groove to deepen its imprint n the silver. Smaller stalks hold petals already in bloom, their petals evoking the trumpet-like shapes that are honeysuckle’s hallmark. Along the length of the inner band, smaller S curves link together, formed by another of his hand-made stamps: a motif that usually represents flowing water but here also signifies the vines that here wrap trellis and arbor and latilla fence year-round. The inner band in Florentine; the outer vines and petals are oxidized and polished to a gleaming mirror finish. Cuff is solid nine-gauge sterling silver; band is 6″ long by 5/16″ wide (dimensions approximate). Other views shown below.
