Life itself is born of love, fertility and growth and medicine in flower all gifts that flow from passion and commitment. With this newest iteration in his longstanding signature series of Warrior Woman pins, Wings pays tribute to the powers of attraction and passion, caring and commitment in all their forms. Saw-cut freehand from sterling silver, her face and traditional bun are evoked with a few simple stampwork strokes; her great heart, centered by the dust of a dancing newborn star, rises in sharp relief above her dress, accented with paired motifs of flowering medicine, a compound design that evokes the watchful power of Eyes of Spirit at each of the Four Sacred Directions. In her left hand she holds a crescent moon trailing with classic stamped hearts; in her right, a tiny round cabochon of rich jade, evergreen in shadow and the electric color of new grass in the light. The serpent coiled over her shoulder, a signifier of prosperity and abundance, is formed of a length of sterling silver pattern wire in a flowing, flowering paisley-like motif, cut to length, filed smooth, hammered flat, then wrapped and overlaid. Pin stands 2-3/4″ high from tip to tip by 1-7/8″ across at the widest point (dimensions approximate).
