It is blood that connects us to our ways and our people, to the ancestors long since walked on, and to the Seventh Generation not yet born. Wings honors that coil of existence here, linking together free-form barrel beads of blood-red branch coral that spiral around and around in a representation of life’s sacred hoop. The coral segments are interspersed at regular intervals with rectangular box beads of brilliantly-hued leopard-skin jasper in deep reds and grays and browns and whites. Two larger, highly-polished circular beads of pale and pearlescent pink shell accent the coil, each placed about a third of the way from either end; the ends are anchored by a few heishi-style discs of jet. The beads are strung on sterling silver “memory wire” that holds its three-coil shape, yet will expand to fit nearly any wrist. Joint design by Wings and Aji.
