“The Way Always Leads Home” Earrings. $425.

No matter the length or turns of the path, the way always leads home. Wings fashions this good road out of sterling silver and freehand stampwork, each curve and loop and switchback leading to shelter and safety beneath an amethyst twilight sky. The pair os formed of four lightly tapered sterling silver tabs of equal size, each cut independently, freehand, with a narrow loop hand-cut in the wide end of each using a jeweler’s saw. Two of them are hand-drilled at the top with fine holes to hold the earring wires; all four are stamped freehand in repeating pattern: one large traditional arrow at the center pointing toward the tab’s wide base, flanked on either side by a single smaller arrow, one pointing in the same direction and one the opposite way. Conjoined as each pair of tabs are by the center hoops, they create a feeling of travel that eventually forms a circle, always finding the center and home. At that center, hand-cut, -formed, and -rolled hoops are threaded through the openings in the tabs to link the pieces, then shaped seamlessly together in the back; on the front, each is bezel-set at the very center with a single tiny round amethyst cabochon, the color of the desert sky just before full dark. Each earring hangs 2-1/2″ in total length, excluding wires, by 5/8″ across at the widest point; cabochons are 3/16″ across (dimensions approximate).
