“The Medicine of the Skies” Warrior Woman Pin. $325. SOLD.

The medicine of the skies shelters our world, day and night. Wings brings together the beauty of daylight blues and all the shimmering stars of night, the moon’s protection and the power of sun and storm, with this entry in his signature Warrior Woman series. The pin is cut freehand with a tiny jeweler’s saw, the blade moving always forward in the tightest of spaces, never back. A few quick hand-stamped strokes evoke her facial features and her jewelry, arms raised above the bold repoussé heart at the top of her dress. The dress itself is formed of a single triangular motif representing the sun emergent from a band of clouds, conjoined together into pairs to form two complex Eyes of Spirit. In her right hand rests a crescent moon traced with four hand-stamped bearpaw prints,, symbols of protection and medicine; in her right she holds a shimmering aquamarine cabochon, refracting the light of the stars. Over her right shoulder a coiled serpent rests, body wrought of sterling silver pattern wire in an Art Nouveau-like design, flowering with all the abundance that Serpent himself represents. Pin stands 2.75″ high by 2 inches across at the widest point; the aquamarine cabochon is 3/16″ across (dimensions approximate).
