“Rising to Meet the Storm” Pueblo Pin. $355. SOLD.

In the shadow of the mountain, the ancient homes are shelter and solidity, rising to meet the storm. Wings honors the ancient architecture and reminds us to be brave in the face of violet skies with this pin wrought in the shape and structure of the old village’s iconic North House. The pin is saw-cut, entirely freehand including each doorway entry; the narrow windows are hand-scored and the strong support beams known as vigas are hand-stamped across the surface.  The traditional pine ladder, the old means of ingress and egress into each home and still the means of reaching the rooftops, is hand-formed of sterling silver wire — triangle wire for the posts, round wire for the rungs, and the whole overlaid at a slight angle to allow access to the roofline. Offset from center, a single bezel-set amethyst in the deep purple shades of summer thunderheads and winter snowstorms, hovers, ready to deliver medicine to those brave enough to meet it. The pin’s surface area is 2.5″ wide; domed for wear, it measures 2-3/8″ wide by 1-1/4″ high from base to ladder’s uppermost tip; the amethyst cabochon is 3/16″ across (dimensions approximate).
